The Weber County Library seeks an individual proficient in Adobe Creative Suite with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the relevant education and experience to work collaboratively within a design team to maintain library marketing materials, create wayfinding materials, and assist with digital and print promotions, website maintenance as needed, and art gallery installations.
JOB OVERVIEW:
As a member of the Library’s program implementation team, under the supervision of the Production Services manager, this employee implements and maintains digital/print Library promotions, marketing (on an as-needed basis), and in-house solutions that create a positive user experience both within the Library and during community outreach. Duties include but are not limited to implementing marketing across various platforms, signage, and wayfinding materials, and assisting with gallery installations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Produce and distribute promotional and marketing content for library programs, collections, and services across all mediums and platforms
Assist with installation and removal of all exhibits and displays
Assist with System continuity of displays, promotion, and signage
Demonstrate proficiency with high-end output devices and modern print shop technology and equipment
Remain current in design principles and marketing and research trends relating to libraries, web content, and social media
Demonstrate proficiency with graphic design software
Support the design team with implementing marketing campaigns for library initiatives, including providing content ideas and assistance with scheduling media
Assist in the production of video content tailored for digital platforms, including the website and social media channels, focusing on reinforcing the library brand and visual identity
Assist in the ongoing development and optimization of web content, including user testing, prototypes, and design updates to enhance user experience
Coordinate with internal customers (employees) for the distribution of organizational support materials (in-house forms, policy brochures, etc.)
Contribute to the setup and preparation of outreach programs, ensuring all materials and resources are effectively organized
Preserve safety, appearance, and condition of Library facilities and property

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contribute to training and workflow and maintain performance results to facilitate a competent workforce made up of support employees to achieve and deliver superior library service
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education: Associates degree from an accredited university in graphic design or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field that provides the required knowledge and abilities for the position. Additional training in communications (marketing, web design, social media, or public relations) preferred.
Experience: At least one year of experience as a production artist in a business setting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):
Knowledge: Working knowledge of the principles and techniques of graphic design. Proficiency with Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop). Knowledge of web management tools; media marketing campaigns; and video/photo editing tools. Knowledge of modern print shop technology and equipment. Proficiency with Mac OS. Familiarity with standard software used in business applications such as Microsoft products, especially Word and Excel. Understanding of the relationships and responsibilities of Library divisions and buildings. Understanding of Library mission and roles, and the general role of public libraries within a community.
Skills: Excellent customer service skills.

Ability to problem-solve independently or in a team environment, give and receive constructive feedback, and accept creative direction. Ability to resolve conflict and implement change. Ability to implement Library Board policies and procedures.

The employee must be able to remove materials or equipment from shelves at a maximum height of six feet and push carts weighing up to 175 pounds. Must have excellent close vision and good distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee regularly works indoors in an office environment or in the Library print shop with standard equipment and associated low-level noise. Occasional travel among Library buildings will be necessary for art installations, display and event setup, and quality control of publicity material display space.
Employees must be able to work rotating shifts (seven days a week) and flexible hours (morning, afternoon, evening, and holiday hours) when the Library is open. All employees will work up to two evenings per week and will alternate weekend shifts with the other employees in their division. Employees will also work holiday hours of equal proportion to those of other employees in their division.
